Editorial : About the Author Beryl Byman taught English at Winona State University in Minnesota. She also served as Program Director in the Arts and Humanities for the University of Minnesota where she developed seminars and conferences for students and the community. Byman created a yearly Minnesota Writers’ Conference, a music appreciation series, and a number of programs on social issues. As a freelance radio producer for Minnesota Public Radio, she developed a wide range of programs on then current issues such as farm foreclosure, the changing practice of medical care, art and pornography, and a series on Minnesota writers. She won numerous honors for her series on Nazi Medicine and the Holocaust including the National Headliners Award. Currently, Byman is currently finishing her next book “In Sickness and in Health.”
