Illustrated entirely in color, this solid book provides a fairly comprehensive introduction to the field of close-up and macro photography. In Part 1, the book logically discusses camera systems and lenses, along with special lenses and accessories for capturing flowers and insects in unique miniature worlds. There is lots of background and mood envoking text to make these creatures more than the sum of their hit dice. I found the translator's comments appropriate and very useful. Not in their quality, and not in their strengths – the rich character building, the black sense of humor, the complex plotting. The photography helps this book stand out from others sitting on the shelves.
